Tourstart – explore the world

Tired of flat tyres?

Thursday August 26th, 2010 @ 06:34 AM

Hi,
A puncture is not the most common thing when riding your motorcycle with the new modern tyres, and what also add to the long life of the tyres is that we normally do not ride that much on gravel roads. At least in some countries and if you are not a off-roader. Well, getting back to the into of this blog post, it is not a memorarble thing to get a puncture, when you have decided to explore the world.   To explore the tool box and test your skills as a DYI in the roadside does not necessarily make the tour a better experience. And it does not help you to look up on the GPS for directions to a garage….

I think the point is clear in this video, and the tyres are not getting flat.

But the tyre has more holes that a hindu fakir laying on a bed of sharp nails, why it must be a really good bargin if I shall buy those tyres…

Video of motorcycle ride

Saturday July 31st, 2010 @ 08:11 AM

Hi,
I have tried something new. To me at least, as I can clearly see on YouTube it is not new to to the world. However, I have fun and that is the main thing. The camera used for the recording is a normal digital camera which can video tape. The first video made was handheld, and regards to road safety it was not the best solution. Then I made the bracket for some old camera mount I found somewhere in a box. The bracket was quickly made, and I look forward to try it. The camera is not waterproof, and those days here we are about to recieve our part of the reason why the fields are so green and nice, that I see no reason to take out the  motorcycle and the non-water proof camera.

I like to have fun taking pictures of where I have been – and still does. But the camera has two functions so why not benefit of that?
Further, it is always nice with some new ways to show other motorcyclists about a nice ride and also good to better remember the tour myself.  The one I made can be seen here:

I like cameras, for still pictures and videos – but is a bit allergic to roadside mounted cameras or the ones which are handheld by out authorities. Wonder why..

Hot or not?

Wednesday July 21st, 2010 @ 07:31 AM

Hi,
This is good when you are hot or cold, but is the product hot or not?
Motorcycling for sure has entered a new era from the “good old days” where we came from a leather helmet – and that is of course good. But is this the future we all aim for? I am often cold when riding, as I freeze easily and on a hot summerday it is nice to be chilled down. I can see the benefits – but do you fancy having one?

Have a nice ride,
Jan

Is he married?

Friday July 9th, 2010 @ 08:38 PM

Hi,
Ever wanted to take the motorcycle into your room, so you could admire the bike all winter? For sure this guy knows a trick or two….
It happens once in a while a picture appears of a motorcycle inside the house, but  I always wonder if the guy is married or not. Ladies, sorry for being a bit sexist, but I never heard about ladies wanted to bring the motorcycle inside the house – but often heard ladies wanted to bring them outside…

Well, at least it is summer on the northern part of the globe, so no need to worry for now – or take that discussion at given moment. All we need to consider is to ride it and have a good summer.

Have a fun and safe ride,
Jan

Goldwing Wannabe

Sunday June 6th, 2010 @ 12:24 PM

Hi,
Wannabe´s will do anything… This guy for sure is a Goldwing Wannabe, for three reasons:
1. Fan of cruise control
2. Likes the comfortable driving style
3. Want to have the latest IT on the motorcycle

All he miss is a GPS and a auto pilot.

Well, even he is a Goldwing Wannabe, still there is something wrong…. Perhaps he should attend a saftey driving training course.

Have a safe ride,

What is a great ride?

Sunday May 16th, 2010 @ 12:53 PM

Hi,
A great ride is ofcourse individual. Just like foods, some likes it hot some not, and our needs change during life as we some times needs to get the adrenalin rush and some times we just need to get the motorcycle rolling under well-known conditions.  Many bikers go for a long exotic ride, at least once in a life time.  The destination be crossing Saharah, USA or down under in Australia.

It could be great to hear from you what you have tried, and just to give some inspiration to where you get all the challanges you need, I found a few pictures.

Lena Highway in Russia
The highway is 1 200 km long, and this is from Amut to Yakutsk. During winter and the dry season, there are no problems. As it is not paved, the rain really mess things up. I do not think it is due to the hot weather the people wear shorts..

Norway
It does not get that wild in Norway. Knowing a bit to the Norwegian culture, they have it all under control, but never the less, they still have some great motorcycle roads. When I drove there it was back in 1992 on my Honda 400F with my wife on the rear seat on our way to North Cape.

Sweden
The above is great, but really, what is it that makes you remember it as a nice ride? Personally it is about having a good time.  Going with the wife, see some new stuff, have sufficient time to relax and just enjoy the motorcycle. This is from our summer holiday last year in Sweden.
